In times of digitalization, learning processes no longer only take place at specific places and physical environments. This development in education is further reinforced by the current Covid19 pandemic. At the same time, it raises the question what significance do physical environments have for teaching and learning in the 21st century.
The paper „Third Teacher goes Raumwerkstatt – participatory planning processes to redesign physical learning environments“ presents a special workshop format called Raumwerkstatt of our transdisciplinary research group LR_D. The starting point of our workshops were the individually documented favourite locations and places of the learners. In the meta-factors derived from this, the Raumwerkstatt succeed in mapping a future perspective for environments of teaching and learning. The paper descripes the methodology and the results of the workshops carried out in the project and analyses them with regard to the importance of physical learning locations against the background of digitalisation.
